Today I want to talk about the most distructive and counter-productive emotion that we can feel: fear.
We think about it as a natural reaction to something. But in truth it is our reaction to something that have not happened yet. It's like anxiety: worrying that you will become fat even though you haven't ordered the pizza yet. In truth, it's just a game of mind. You play those mind movies and prepare for the outcome and thinking that if you will be ready then you can fight it.
And this preparation is leading us to taking wrong decisions. We are afraid to face how our body is looking, so that we become apathic and avoid to see what is really happening. We are afraid that nothing will work, so that we do nothing to make it work. We are afraid that somebody can influence our life in a way that we don't want to experience, and we forget to live our life fully and freely.
You have to understand that fear serves you very little. In fact, because of fear you are loosing more than you could possibly get. Fear is helping you to keep you in your comfort zone a little more, but it is not solving the issue. You may take some action because of fear, but that action would be just a temporary solution: after you solve one problem, there will come out another one, and another, and another... until everything will become one big problem which you will call a life of misery. And because of the trees you won't be able to see the forest. Only when you will look at your life at a larger scale you will be able to undestant what is really happening.
When you are afraid, it's like you are in a labyrinth: you can't see nothing except huge walls arround you and a small path in front of you. Sometimes you will be able to turn to left or right and this will make you think that you are in control of everything, but you don't know where that path is leading to. And you walk arround thinking where to go next. But because of so many decisions and immediate actions you forget why you are here: you want to find something inside or just to go out?
You have to remember why are you here. You have to remember where you want to go. You have to remeber that it is your birthright to be there where you want to be.
And now, let the walls to drop. Step over them with faith. Now you are free to go.
Interesting post dude. At a pttrey similar cross road and havn't thought much about how fear is inter fear ing with my decision (if at all) Thanks for the mindfulness homey.
